Link-in-bio terms, defined
Plain-language definitions of the words behind link-in-bio pages, digital contact cards, and the rest of cntct.space.
- Link in bio
- A single web link placed in a social media profile's bio field that leads to a page of multiple links and content. Because platforms like Instagram and TikTok allow only one clickable link in a bio, a link-in-bio page routes followers to everything else — other profiles, products, videos, and contact methods.
- Link-in-bio page
- A customizable landing page that collects all of someone's important links and content in one place, designed to be the destination for a social bio link. It typically lives at a short URL (for example, cntct.space/yourname) and works on any device without an app.
- Digital contact card
- An online version of a business card that someone can open from a link and save directly to their phone's contacts. A digital contact card holds your name, role, phone, email, and links, and stays current — when you update the page, every shared copy of the link reflects the change.
- vCard
- A standard file format (.vcf) for electronic contact details that opens natively in the contacts app on iPhone and Android. A one-tap 'save contact' button on a digital contact card downloads a vCard, so no app is required to save someone's details.
- Lead capture
- Collecting a visitor's details — typically name, email, and a message — through a form so you can follow up. On a link-in-bio page, a lead-capture (or lead-generation) form turns passive visitors into contacts you own and can export.
- Lead generation form
- A form that gathers prospective customers' information in exchange for contact or a response. On cntct.space it is a block you add to a page, with configurable fields, instant email notifications, and CSV export of every submission.
- Booking page
- A page where visitors pick an available time slot and book an appointment without back-and-forth email. A booking page shows real openings in the visitor's own time zone and sends automatic confirmations, reminders, and reschedule links.
- Link-in-bio analytics
- Measurement of how a link-in-bio page performs — including page views, link clicks, click-through rate, top links, referring platforms, devices, and visitor locations. Analytics shows which content an audience responds to so the page can be tuned over time.
- QR code
- A scannable square barcode that opens a URL when photographed with a phone camera. Because a link-in-bio page is a normal URL, it can be turned into a QR code for print, packaging, or NFC tags — bridging in-person and online contact.
- Custom domain
- Using your own web address (for example, links.yourbrand.com) for a link-in-bio page instead of the platform's shared domain. A custom domain reinforces your brand and is available on cntct.space's Pro plan.
- Theme
- A reusable set of visual styles — colours, fonts, button shapes, backgrounds, and motion — applied to a page. Themes let a link-in-bio page match a personal or business brand rather than looking like a generic template.
- Block
- A modular content unit you add to a page and reorder freely. cntct.space blocks include a profile, links, a social-icon row, headings, text, images, media embeds, a contact card, a booking calendar, and a lead-capture form.
- Embed
- Third-party content displayed inline on a page, such as a YouTube video, Spotify track, or Vimeo clip. An embed plays or displays directly on the link-in-bio page instead of sending the visitor elsewhere.
- URL slug
- The unique, human-readable part of a web address that identifies a specific page. On cntct.space the slug is your username in cntct.space/yourname — short, memorable, and the same wherever you share it.
- Linktree alternative
- Any link-in-bio tool used in place of Linktree. cntct.space is a Linktree alternative that adds full theme customization, a digital contact card, and built-in booking and lead capture, with a free plan to start.
