Spaces & the block builder
Build your public page by stacking blocks — profile, links, media and more.
A space is your public page at cntct.space/your-slug. You build it in the block editor by stacking blocks — a profile, link buttons, text, images, embeds and more — then reorder, configure, and publish. This guide walks through creating a space and using the editor.
Everything you do in the editor updates a live preview on the right as you type. Nothing goes public until you save and publish.
Creating a space
- Go to your dashboard and start a new space, or open /space/create directly.
- Pick a Start from a template tile for a ready-made layout you can change afterwards — this creates the space and drops you straight into the editor.
- Or scroll past or start from scratch to the blank editor, which begins with a Profile block and one Link block.
- Set your Space URL — the part after
cntct.space/. Use lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens. Leave it blank and we generate one from your space name. - Click Create space. You land back on your dashboard with the new space ready to edit and publish.
Your space name isn't a separate field — it's taken from your Profile block's display name (falling back to a generated name). Set the display name in the Profile block.
The editor layout
The editor has two halves. On the left are your controls: a Space URL field, a Blocks / Theme tab switcher, and the action bar. On the right is the sticky Live preview with a Mobile / Wide width toggle so you can check both layouts.
- Blocks tab — your block list plus the Add a block picker.
- Theme tab — colours, fonts, backgrounds and motion (see Themes & templates).
- Live preview — re-renders as you edit; switch between Mobile and Wide.
Adding a block
- On the Blocks tab, scroll to Add a block.
- Tap a tile to append that block to the bottom of your list. Available types: Profile, Link, Socials, Heading, Text, Image, Embed, Contact, Divider, Hero — plus preset tiles for Link, Form and Booking.
- The new block is added collapsed. Tap its row to expand it and fill in its settings.
The picker also offers one-tap presets: link presets like Latest YouTube video (free) and Shop my favourites (Pro), Form presets (Newsletter signup, Contact form, Lead-gen form), and the Booking block. Locked presets show a Pro badge and open an in-place upgrade prompt instead of navigating away, so you never lose unsaved work.
Reordering & deleting
- Reorder — grab the dotted handle (
fa-grip-vertical) on the left of any row and drag it up or down. Keyboard reordering is supported too: focus the handle and use the arrow keys. - Delete — click the trash icon on the right of a row. There's no confirmation, but nothing is removed from your public page until you save.
Editing block settings
Click a block's row (or its chevron) to expand its settings panel. Each block type has its own fields — for example a Link block has a title, URL, icon, card style and description; a Profile block has avatar, cover image, display name and bio. Each row also shows a one-line summary so you can scan your page at a glance. For what each block does, see Content blocks.
On Pro and above, each block row has a schedule control — set a start and/or end time to automatically show or hide a block on a timeline. On lower plans the control is locked.
Saving & publishing
Saving is explicit, not autosave. Make your changes, then click Create space (new space) or Save changes (existing space) in the action bar. Cancel discards unsaved edits and returns you to the dashboard.
- Published — the checkbox in the action bar (edit mode) controls whether your space is live. Unpublished spaces aren't visible to visitors. See Publishing your space.
- Hide from search — keeps a published space out of Google and other search engines.
- Saving redirects you to the dashboard; the public page is refreshed automatically.
There's no separate Preview button or unsaved-changes warning. The right-hand panel is your preview, and closing or navigating away before saving discards your edits.
Limits
How many spaces you can create depends on your plan. A single space can hold up to 50 blocks.
| Plan | Spaces | Blocks per space |
|---|---|---|
| Free | 1 | 50 |
| Basic | 4 | 50 |
| Pro | 10 | 50 |
| Business | 100 | 50 |
All 12 block types are available on every plan, including Free. Some *presets* and the Booking, Form (lead capture) and scheduling features are Pro and above — see Account & billing.
Frequently asked
Does the editor autosave my changes?
No. Saving is explicit — click Create space or Save changes in the action bar. If you navigate away or hit Cancel before saving, your edits are discarded.
How do I reorder blocks?
Drag the dotted handle on the left of a block row up or down. You can also focus the handle and use the arrow keys to move a block with the keyboard.
How many blocks can a space have?
Up to 50 blocks per space, on every plan.
Why is a block tile greyed out with a Pro badge?
That tile is a preset or block gated to a higher plan (for example Booking, lead-capture Form presets, or the Shop my favourites link preset). Clicking it opens an upgrade prompt without losing your unsaved work.
How do I change my space's URL?
Edit the Space URL field in the editor (the part after cntct.space/). Use lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens. If the URL is already taken, saving shows an error and asks you to choose another.
Where do I set the space's name?
There's no standalone name field — the name comes from your Profile block's display name. Set it there and it doubles as the space name.
